There are currently only 6 types of Master Telephone Socket's that you will be able to test from. Please look at the pictures closely to find yours and follow instructions......



Master Socket NTE 5

If you have this type of master socket, you will need to remove the two small screws on the front bottom plate.



Remove Lower Front Cover

Once you have removed the screws, carefully start to remove the lower cover, you may not be able to pull all the way out, this will be due to wiring being attached to the plate.




Test Socket Location

Now you can see your test socket as indicated in picture on the left, it is here that you now plug in your equipment to test the service, it is up to and including this test socket that your service provider is responsible for!


Microfilter

Before you can start testing your telephone service or broadband service, you will need to plug in a "Microfilter" This plugs into the test socket, and you plug your equipment into the Microfilter.

If you are unable to perform the test yourself, you can always book a local telephone engineer near you to do it for you, Personally I only cover the Surrey area.

If you have this type of Master Telephone Socket, you do not need a screwdriver,  you will need to squeeze or pinch the two sides together

Remove the front cover by pressing the clips on either side of the lower front cover and gently pull the plate forward. 




Test Socket Location

Now you can see your test socket as indicated in picture on the left, it is here that you now plug in your equipment to test the service, it is up to and including this test socket that your service provider is responsible for!

Before you can start testing your telephone service or broadband service, you will need to plug in a "Microfilter" This plugs into the test socket, and you plug your equipment into the Microfilter.

NTE5 With I-Plate

If you have this type of master socket, you will need to remove the two long screws on the front bottom plate. you will also see a middle part, once the two screws are removed, this middle part (I-Plate) will easily come away, if however you have wiring attached to the front lower part, then the middle i-plate can be lifted over through the wiring.

Now you can see your test socket as indicated in picture on the left, it is here that you now plug in your equipment to test the service, it is up to and including this test socket that your service provider is responsible for!

If you have this type of master socket, you will need to remove the two long screws on the front bottom plate. you will also see a middle part, once the two screws are removed, this middle part will easily come away, if however you have wiring attached to the front lower part, then the middle part can be lifted over through the wiring.
